TAHSİN KAYA
Born in 1935 in Kamışlı Village, part of the Geyve district in Sakarya, Tahsin Kaya began working in agriculture and livestock at an early age to support his family. Following in his father’s footsteps, he entered the lumber trade and expanded the timber workshop established in 1952. In the 1960s, he opened a timber store in Kadıköy.
In 1965, Kaya and his brothers founded the “Tahsin Kaya and Partners Collective Company,” marking their entry into the construction business. By 1972, this partnership evolved into Kaya Construction and Trade Company. The company distinguished itself by undertaking technically challenging projects, setting a course apart from conventional construction practices.
Tahsin Kaya attributes his business success not only to his determination, ambition, and integrity but also to the dedicated efforts of his employees. Recognized as one of Turkey’s prominent businessmen, Kaya continues to contribute voluntarily to social projects and charitable organizations.
Presidency of Fenerbahçe Sports Club
In 1986, Tahsin Kaya was elected president of Fenerbahçe Sports Club, a position he held for three seasons. During his tenure, he brought star players like Aykut Kocaman, Oğuz Çetin, Rıdvan Dilmen, and Toni Schumacher to the club. He also collaborated with notable coaches such as Branko Stanković, Yılmaz Yücetürk, and Pal Csernai.
Under Kaya’s leadership, Fenerbahçe achieved remarkable success, notably breaking a record in the 1988-1989 season by scoring 103 goals to win the championship. Remembered as an iconic president in the club’s history, Kaya also contributed to the development of numerous facilities for Fenerbahçe.
